Gender issues

The goal of our subarea is to investigate the changeable situation of women and men in CEE countries. What procedures are employed by the legislation and its institutions to enhance the equal chances of both sexes? Where and how are women discriminated? Can we say about region-specific oppressions? Do the religions react to these problems? If yes, in what way? How do women organise themselves in religions and inter-religiously?

Analysis of religious and feminist publications will serve as base for a study “Religions and feminist movement in CEE countries”. The results of the analysis will be compared with omnibus survey research on representative group of a society. This kind of research is already done in Poland and we hope to find and present comparative researches’ results in chosen countries of CEE. Planned workshop and publication will be a source of knowledge and can inspire women to organise themselves.
